Two Boys Seriously Injured While Walking in a Crosswalk

MERIDIAN - Meridian Police Department is investigating an accident involving two teenage brothers, age 14 and 13, who were hit while they were walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of Ten Mile Road and Park Creek Drive in Meridian around 4:45 p.m. Saturday evening. Both children were reported suffering from severe injuries possibly life-threatening.
The collision occurred while the boys were walking in a crosswalk while the traffic light to oncoming traffic was reported red. An 18-yr-old male driver allegedly drove through a red light and struck the boys while they were in the crosswalk. Meridian Police report that the driver may have been distracted.
The boys were taken to the St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center which is the local trauma center for injuries of the type and kind incurred by the boys in this accident.
The crash remains under current investigation.
