BOISE – Again, sad news to report. Just within sight of the holiday season, we are sad to report a 13-yr.-old, Brenden Rogers, was hit by a pickup truck in downtown Boise over the weekend and lost his life
Witnesses at the scene report that the pickup truck driver was leaving a parking garage located on 9th street when the driver hit the 13-yr-old while the boy was riding a skateboard on the sidewalk. Other witnesses say that the boy was in the process of picking up the skateboard when the collision occurred.
The Boise City Police are conducting a collision reconstruction and investigation to determine the cause of the collision. The driver of the pickup truck is a 43-yr.-old is also from Boise. Citations are pending subject to the completion of the investigation.
In Idaho, any vehicle pulling out from a driveway has the duty to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians while the vehicle is crossing a sidewalk. The duty to yield pertains to not only people walking on the sidewalk, but to those riding a bicycle, scooter or skateboard as well.
We extend our thoughts and prayers on behalf of the boy’s family for their loss.
