13 yr old Bicyclist Struck by Vehicle While Crossing the Street

BOISE -- Police report that a 13 yr old girl was hit by a car Sunday everning as she was riding a bicycle at the intersection of West Ustick Road and Jullion Street. The girl was taken by ambulance to a local hospital due to serious injuries sustained as a result of the crash. The girl was attempting to cross the road on her bike when the collision occurred. A collision reconstruction is presently underway.

In Idaho, bicyclists that are crossing the street in a crosswalk are considered by statute to be pedestrians and are afforded the same protection under the law as any other pedestrian while occupying a crosswalk.
The injuries sustained by the 13 yr old girl are reported as life threatening.
