Eastern Idaho Pedestrian Struck and Killed on State Hwy 48

Idaho State Police report that on Saturday, March 15, 2014, around 2;45 p.m., an Eastern Idaho man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while he was walking in an easterly direction on the paved portion of the westbound lane on State Highway 48 by a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban vehicle. According to police, Allen Clayton, age 65, of Roberts, Idaho, died Saturday after being flown by Life Flight to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Police indicate that the driver of the Suburban, a 23 yr old from Menan. claims that he swerved to avoid hitting Clayton, but struck him on the right side of the suburban. Clayton was walking east on the paved portion of the westbound lane at the time of the collision. The crash is under investigation.
