Man Perishes Due to Fire at Retirement Center

LEWISTON, Idaho -- According to the Lewiston Fire Department, a fire broke out at the Royal Plaza Retirement Center in Lewiston, Idaho this pastTuesday evening. The fire occurred in a garage in one of two duplexes sending smoke throughout one of the living areas. According to Battalion Chief Gaylon Waits, a patient was taken to the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center who died as a result of the fire. The man’s name was not released pending notification of his family. The cause of the fire is not known as of yet since the investigation is currently underway.
