Posted on May 04, 2014

NOTUS, Idaho -- Idaho State Police in conjunction with the Canyon County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a head-on motor vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality and four otehrs being injured on US Highway 20 near Purple Sage Road on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at around 5:30 p.m.

Police report that 25 yr old Spook Meras of Notus, Idaho was driving eastbound on US Highway 20 and crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a Chevy Malibu sedan operated by 74 yr old Ely Montoya of Parma. Mr. Montoya’s 74 yr old wife, Tillie Montoya, and two juveniles were passengers in his vehicle at the time of the crash. The Montoyas and two juveniles were transported to the trauma center located at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment for injuries sustained in the wreck. Mrs. Montoya died from her injuries at the medical center. The collision is currently under investigation. Since this crash involves a fatality, it is likely that a collision reconstruction will be conducted by the Idaho State Police. Criminal charges are pending following the completion of the investigation and reconstruction by the police.

We at Morton Law Offices, Chartered extend our heartfelt condolences to the Montoya Family for their loss.
