Eagle Resident Enters Plea of Guilty for Vehicular Manslaughter
Posted on Mar 18, 2014
Eagle resident Andrew Cassell entered a plea of guilty to the charge of vehicular manslaughter in connection with a motor vehicle collision that happened during the early morning hours of November 1, 2013 after he got behind the wheel of a 2004 Kia Optima and crashed into a power pole on State Street killing his passenger, 21 yr old Aldina Ekic, who died at the scene of the crash.
Cassell was reported to have had a BAC of .125; the legal limit of which in Idaho is .08.
The entry of a plea of guilty to a driving offense (whether it be an infraction, misdeamnor or felony} constitutes an admission against interest and is admissible as evidence in a court of law in any civil proceeding involving the same fact pattern according to the Idaho Appellate Courts.
Cassell’s sentencing is scheduled for later in April.
Our deepest condolences go to the family and friends of Aldina Ekic for their loss.
