Multi-Vehicle Crash involving a Semi-Truck Occurred on I-84 Near Meridian

MERIDIAN – Yesterday, a multi-vehicular crash involving a 2004 Dodge Neon, Chevy van and a 2003 Freightliner semi- truck and trailer occurred in the westbound lanes of I-84 between Locust Grove and the Meridian exit. The Idaho State Police report that the Dodge Neon stuck a ski/swim platform that had fallen from a boat onto the interstate. Upon hitting the platform, the car left its lane and was rear-ended by the Chevy Van causing the Dodge Neon to rotate to the right and into the path of the semi-truck trailer. Both driver and passenger of the Dodge Neon were taken to a Meridian hospital after the crash. The crash occurred around 11:19 a.m
All occupants of the three vehicles were reported as wearing their seat belts.
Idaho State Police is asking for any witnesses to the crash and particularly the vehicle that lost its swim platform to contact the police at 208-846-7550. The crash is still under investigation.
