Boise City Police report that they have arrested Christopher Anderson, age 24, of Boise on five felony counts of injury to a child for injuries inflicted upon a 6 yr old boy by the dog owner's pit bull earlier in March of this year. Police report that the 6 yr old had been left with the dog in a vehicle located in a parking lot in the 1300 block of South Broadway Avenue when the mauling occurred. The boy suffered severe lacerations to the face as a result of the attack.
Ada County records also reveal that two other children, ages 9 and 11, were also inside the van at the time of the attack but were not injured. The dog’s owner was an acquaintance of the children’s parent according to police.
Police investigators also report that the dog’s owner was aware of the dog’s aggressive and violent propensities due to prior incidents of children been attacked by the dog leading up to the felony charges being imposed upon the dog’s owner. The dog’s owner remains in the Ada County Jail awaiting trial on a $500,000 bond imposed. His preliminary hearing is calendared for July 18.
The children have been placed into protective custody with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare whereas the dog remains in the custody of Animal Control.
